WHY DONATE

In a time when support for the arts is actively shrinking under our current administration, and when AI-generated content threatens to flatten the emotional landscape of storytelling, THE GIMP stands as a defiant, urgent reminder: film is human. It is messy, complex, tactile, and alive.

By donating to THE GIMP, you are not just helping bring a short film to life, you are directly investing in the future of independent cinema, in artists who still believe stories can shift culture.

This film gives a platform to a queer female filmmaker breaking genre expectations, challenging the assumption that women must only create polished, delicate work. Much like Kathryn Bigelow, who was told she couldn’t direct Zero Dark Thirty, this is about proving we can and will make work that is raw, disturbing, and layered. THE GIMP is not interested in comfort. It's interested in truth.

We are also committed to hiring a diverse, inclusive crew, providing paid opportunities for underrepresented voices in film. Every dollar goes to real artists doing real work.

In a culture increasingly ruled by social media algorithms and political echo chambers, nuance is vanishing. People are flattened into avatars of their worst moment. But THE GIMP dares to look at the gray area, to explore the danger of assumption about identity, morality, sexuality, family. This is a story about life and death, shame and care, infidelity and innocence. It forces the audience to sit with questions that don’t have clean answers. And that’s what art should do.

So if you believe in keeping film human...
If you believe stories can still challenge, provoke, disturb, and expand us...
If you believe a new generation of storytellers deserves to be heard...

Donate to THE GIMP.
